Cast into the bountiful Big Satilla River, just 8-minutes from GA Coastal RV Park—your ideal RV anchorage for a memorable fishing adventure.
What kinds of fish should you expect to find at the Satilla River?
Redbreast Sunfish & Bluegill
- Abundant and Trophy-Sized: The Satilla River is renowned for its redbreast sunfish, with anglers often catching specimens over 1 pound. Bluegill, including the hefty coppernose, are also plentiful.
Largemouth Bass
- Hidden Gems: While not famous for bass, the Satilla has a good number of 10 to 14-inch bass. Springtime high waters increase the chances of landing a 2-3 lb bass, with occasional lunkers.
Catfish
- Rich Catfish Population: A variety of bullheads and channel catfish thrive here. Deep river bends are hotspots, best fished with worms, chicken livers, or cut bait.
Crappie
- Year-Round Delight: Present throughout the river, crappie fishing is ideal when it’s too chilly for bream and bass. Woody cover in slack-water areas is where you’ll find them biting on live minnows and jigs.
For the best fishing conditions, check the USGS gages for water levels between 4-8 feet at Waycross and 3-7 feet at Atkinson before heading out.
Happy fishing, and we hope to see you at GA Coastal RV Park – your gateway to the Satilla River!
